High Commission of India, Ottawa celebrates Republic Day

1.    The 67th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at the High Commission of India, Ottawa by officials and family members of the High Commission of India, members of the Indian community and friends of India. Despite inclement weather and it being a working day, a large cross section of the community turned up to salute the tricolour.

2.    High Commissioner Vishnu Prakash hoisted the national flag which was followed by singing of National Anthem. He read out excerpts from the address of the President of India to the nation delivered last evening.

3.    High Commissioner Prakash formally handed over the Certificate of Registration of ICPC (Indo-Canadian Press Club) to its office bearers. In a first initiative of its kind, ICPC aims to create a common platformfor all journalists contributing in various Indian languages.

4.    The assembled guests happily mingled at a reception oversimple refreshments, that followed.
