Baisakhi on Hill

Baisakhi on Hill was celebrated on 10.04.17 by a large number of Sikh Diaspora at The Parliament Complex in Ottawa. The programme commenced with Bhog of Akhand Path which was going on since 08.04.17. Religious hymns were recited and langar was served. The event was graced by Hon. Ms. Bardish Chagger Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, High Commissioner of India, H.E Mr. Vikas Swarup and other Parliamentarians.

            In the evening a reception was arranged to mark the celebrations at Sir John A. MacDonald Building. Besides participants of the Indo-Canadian community, Hon. Mr. Navdeep Singh Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Hon. Ms. Bardish Chagger Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, High Commissioner of India, H.E Mr. Vikas Swarup, MPs, diplomats and other dignitaries were present. Hon. Ms. Bardish Chagger  honoured Sergeant Baltej Singh Dhillon, the first turbaned RCMP police officer, by presenting him a charter signed by Prime Minister Mr Justin Trudeau.
