Tourist  Visa

Tourist visa is granted to a short time visitor who intends to visit India for genuine tourism purposes. Therefore, the duration of Tourist Visa would usually not exceed 6 months.

A Tourist Visa holder, even if he holds a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, is not allowed to take second entry in India unless a period of 60 days has elapsed from the date of his last departure from India.

Those applying for Tourist Visa are strongly advised to read Important Information by clicking the link http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/FAQ-TVisa280710.pdf

Persons of Indian origin can be granted Tourist visa also (instead of Entry Visa), if they so wish. However, it may please be understood that Tourist Visa is non-convertible and non-extendable; and that there is a stipulation of a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to India  on a Tourist visa as indicated in the paragraph above.

Processing Time

It usually requires 7 business days to grant Tourist Visa, excluding the time taken in postal transmission.
