Transit Visa

Transit Visa is meant for taking next connecting flight from a port within India en route to some other destination within 72 hours. Confirmed tickets for the onward journey are to be produced.  Transit visa is given with a validity period of 30 days from the date of issue. It can be single entry or double entry depending on the requirement of the applicant. The visa is non-extendable.  

Processing Time 

It usually requires 7 business days to grant Transit Visa, excluding the time taken in postal transmission.  

How to apply and the fee charged  

You need to download the form by clicking here.  Submit the form at one of the offices of our outsourcing agents, VFS Global. Their office addresses, timings, phone numbers and e-mail address can be found by clicking here. The fee charged is C$ 31 for the Transit visa. In addition, you will be required to pay processing fee to VFS Global. Please consult them about the total cost and the exact procedure for remitting the fee. 

Applicants having Non-Canadian Passports

Normally, persons seeking Transit Visa must apply to the High Commission of India in their native country. However, if you have been living in Canada on a long term visa or work permit or Permanent Resident card; and have been staying in Canada for over 2 years, your application for Transit Visa can be considered. The fee and the processing time can be significantly different than those applicable for Canadian Passport holders. Please consult our outsourcing agents, VFS Global for details. Applicants having Pakistani Passport or persons of Pak origin

If you, or your parents or grand parents have/had Pakistani citizenship, a different procedure is required to be followed in your case. Please click here for details.
